That sucks. Nothing worse than an injury. My first ride on a MTb ended up with a broken foot and ankle, then later a broken noise (no I wasn't smart enough to stop then and I am still not smart enough to stop now) I still can't believe you guys don't wear body armor........
lol...i wear a shin/knee guard combo. i was going to buy a set of elbow guards this weekend before the racing got started...lol...i was buying them and i hear somebody shout, "the horse left the building T!!!!" lol...
Monday before the I wake up with this familiar tickle in my throat around this time of the year. Ragweed is in the high category, I hear the weatherman say..."Oh shit!!! I haven't been taking my allergy medicine!!" So on the downward spiral I go. Head congestion, energy gone, the works!
Friday rolls around and I go out for practice. I have nothing!!! Towards the end of practice, I start feeling light headed, throat is dry as a desert. Not the best physical condition for racing. So I get my motos and I just tell myself, "fourth or better."
Moto 1, I get a decent pop, fall into 4th and follow around the track. Come out of the last turn I kina remember going over the first 2 jumps, then after that, I'm waking up face down on the dirt. I guess I passed out or something...so I get up and I'm just broken inside. I can't describe it...it's just the way I felt..nothing was actually broken however.
I race the next two motos and I just didn't have anything to offer. So my night was done Friday.
Saturday, woke up so sore and still congested that I had to pull out. Had this been 10 years ago, I'd be all over it, however at 38, I got pick my battles and I decided that if I didn't have a shot at main event, there's no reason going out and getting worked over.
That was my grands...next year I will go on the allergy medicine a few weeks before to battle my increasing allergy problem during this time of the year.
Heres an interview I did on WHAS11 Thursday morning.
just got a Lausman sighting at the track!!! Frankie was out there and said he was out there killing only like Mike can!!! could there be a comeback in the future?!?! would be pretty cool!
i hang out with him here and there and I'd be really surprised to see him actually show up for a race. he still randomly hits the skatepark and does his thing for a few minutes and out.
