mud question

so, being new to this whole mountain bike tom foolery i've found that it somehow seems frowned upon to go pedal said mountain bike on muddy trails. this, i am utterly confused by. mountain bikes are by their very nature rugged, shit flinging, rebel rousing vehicles. why the hell is it wrong to go slop up the trails? i understand the erosion and rut factors that happen upon said ventures, but so fucking what?! i thought that was all part of the deal. is it just serving the lowest common denominator in mountain biking? if so, fuck that too, i get enough of that garbage having my kids go to public school. i'm going riding, if someone wants to give me shit about making a mess of the trails or skidding through a bunch of shit, you'll have to keep up, i'm having too much fun to wait around and listen to you cry.

Cherokeneca conditions

I left work early today (Friday) and hit the full circuit twice. Overall the trails are decent but boggy in spots. Run big knobs if you go out this weekend and dodge the rutty slop.

I was running 2.35 nevegals and they stayed hooked in.

sunday cross?

is this still on? also, i'm curious what the opinions of some of you mountain bikers are out there towards runners and cx'ers on the trails in cherokee (or where ever else)?

i ask cause i rode cherokee last night with a few other people, all on cross bikes, and while we came across a mtb'er or two, there was never really an issue. all this while the other people i was with seemed to have the idea we were very unwelcome having been on cross bikes...

trail report

i just walked in the door from the park. the trails are great. there are the usual wet spots. it was very slick this morning. maybe not, it might just be me being a pussy. no insurance as of this moment. funny how 5 years ago i wouldn't have even thought twice about insurance. oh well. the trails are no worse for the rain. enjoy your day and try to ride today. i'm off to work and i think i'll ride. just because i can. cx is coming. i think i can smell it. this should be a fun year/series.
