The latest word on CX in Louisville

A hastily called meeting was pulled together with representatives of most of the local racing teams as well as other interested parties to discuss the CX situation in Louisville in general and River Road Country Club in particular. On the upside, the ability to pull together so many people on such short notice shows the passion this community has for cyclocross. It was an interesting meeting that provided some history, some heated moments and some action planning. Joe Nalley provides a great write up on the meeting.

The major takeaway is that a group (coalition?) has been formed to document the CX communities needs/goals/position for the planned cyclocross park. Public discussion is important but to ensure your voice gets heard, get your input to your team's representative. The group will act as a unified voice for cyclocross as we work with the city on the planning.

This is far from over so get the popcorn out.

peace.

  1. see this is just another part of the problem with riding in Louisville. nobody gets the word out. why wasn't this meeting posted all over the damn place? maybe i'm just not on the right lists or what, but I would have loved to attend and be involved as I'm sure many others that didn't know about this would have.

  2. There are yahoo groups commonly used for communicating training rides, etc.: PurpleRides and ovcross as well as RedZoneCycling.

This hastily thrown together meeting was on all three.

  3. we all have to stay together on this. in the past i've seen things like this go south fast do to all the finger pointing and fighting within the group. this statement goes for mtb club, bmx, road and now cx. focus on the prize.

  4. good words, molnar. We have to stay together on this. The short term is protecting CX and the long term is making sure we build a vision that includes all disciplines. We are going to win only if we stick together.

Jimmy - this meeting got pulled together so quickly and the word was put out through as many channels as possible. Keep an eye on the Rogue forum (I'll be posting there). There's also a lot of chatter on BikeClicks (OVCX forum).
