cx worlds ( i know i'm late on this one)

great news louisville is in the running for another top cycling event. we have the masters nationals occasionally, ironman, x-game events and the bmx grand nationals. our city, although not the most cycling friendly has a really good track record of getting good cycling events. with the news of the worlds coming to the states has the whole cycling world a buzz. this is and would be a huge accomplishment for for cycling. what could be next. sven nys is going to put off his retirement from the sport just to come to the states and race. in an interview awhile back with cyclocross magazine nys said he would like to come to america and take a start but the schedule just doesn't work. the head uci cyclocross guy was in town for the usgp just checking things out and i guess he was impressed enough to put us in the running and at the top of the list. the final anouncement will be made sometime thursday, i'll be a work so someone please call me and give me the news. rumor has it that if you your town gets the world championship the year before you get a big worlds race. just think 2 big races in louisville. the ovcx and the huge juniors programs have played into the rise of cross in this region. our area has become somewhat of a hot bed for cross. this season i tried to check licence plates at the races. we had people from all the region. some of the plates i witnessed, oho, georgia, n.c., missouri, tennessee, illinois, and west virgina. these were spotted at regular races not usgp. that's something.
