the evolution of the helmet

the helmet has taken on may looks over the years. the start was nothing, just the wind in your hair. then there was the cycling cap also known as a fashion statement theses days for cyclist and non-cyclist. ah, the hair net. not really a helmet more along the lines of a glorified cycling cap with padding. i kinda like it but little to no protection. the biggest jump in helmets came in the early to mid 90's with the introduction of the specialized sub-six pro. weighing in at 6 oz. in the smallest size and had no shell. it was revolutionary. now we come to the modern day helmet lost of vents, light weight, universal fits, and awesome retention systems.

  1. still a fan of the wind in your hair... riding a bike isn't dangerous, cars are.
