helmets
i've received a few helmets over the last few months. the offerings were from uvex, trek, and lazer. also tested was the old favorite from limar. all of these helmets use different but similar retention systems. all the helmets test were in the $100 plus range. the uvex super sonic fit really well and features a single finger push button release on the chin strap. the uvex also has a nice mesh lining in the front to help keep out bug. it also has big vents. the only down side is that my head isn't totally round so i had a tight spot in one place. this fit/head issue was a common occurrence. the trek sonic fits very nice and has a good low fit with an adjustable liner/retention system. this helmet features lots of vents and is more on the road site of things. the lazer o2 has a great fit also, but the way the liner is the helmet wanted to tilt off to one side. the o2 is more road so the vents are big with no mesh to keep the bugs out if you ride on the trail. one plus to the lazer is that they have a winter liner with ear flaps. the limar 911 is a big helmet inside and out. it fits like giro and has lots of small vents. the fit is nice i have relly liked this helmet. getting the straps adjusted took a little more time. the best thing i can tell you is get a helmet that fits well no matter what the price is. make sure you try different ones on, no 2 are the same. the trek, uvex and lazer helmets are shown.

ReplyDeletei think the lazer may stay with me. not sure about the uvex. if you wnt to ride one and see how they fit let me know.
ReplyDeleteyeah i wouldn't mind checking it out. i've been wanting one of those lazers for a bit, but i've never tried the uvex before.
