29 vs 29 vs 26

the debate will go on for eternity what's better 29er, ss, or 26. these question can't be answered by one person so please give your 2 cents at the end.

i've ridden a 26 inch mountain bike for ages and yes i think you can say ages when you're over 40. i will always own a 26 inch wheeled mountain bike and will probably always throw a leg over it. with the strong showing of 29er's by every manufacturer, big and small it reminds me of something i heard once "I gots to know."

i've been riding my 29er ss for the past few weeks while i decided on the geared version to buy. i have to say the ss version is a nice ride. the wheel size helps maintain speed even with a trail-a-bike attached. i did find myself reaching for the shifter more than once. i really didn't or couldn't tell that much difference between the 26 and 29 in handling.

this morning i went out on my geared version dubbed the "working man's 29'er" and i have to say add a front shock and some gears and it was even better than expected. after some fine tuning of the seatpost and handlebars i have to say that it was an awesome ride. felt like a 26 only faster. 29 is here to stay along with it's little brother the 26.

throw the 650b into the mix and you have mid 90's confusion like headtube sizes ranging from 1 1/4, 1 1/8, 1 inch and cannondale headshock size.

btw trails should be awesome this afternoon.
