I rode a mountain bike on a real mountain for the first time ever last weekend. Snowshoe, WV. was the destination for a full day of non-stop drops, jumps, wall rides and even time enough to do a little giant slalom racing.
What did I learn? Well...for one, a P3 hardtail with one rear brake is not the setup you want. For here, it's all you need. I had on xc tires too, which made me a little squirrelier than nutty poo poo in the turns.
I'm not sure what it is about the fall. Or maybe it was the altitude...not sure, but it seems the older I get the more and more I find myself drifting away from BMX. It could be a combination of all the above along with the laid back friendly vibe I experienced on the mountain with like minded two-wheeled people.
After the sun set, Keith, Kevin and I at some good pizza and watched some old school dual slalom action, while Keith and Kevin tried to do their best to make their pizza come back up by riding some contraption made out of 2 bikes that you pedaled and did loops. Met up with local MTBers as well and discovered that Kymba is not the Kymba I remembered.
It was a great day...all I can say...just a great day.
